Subway construction impacts traffic in Wakefield
4ds agoThe NYPD and the city's Department of Transportation are looking to improve motorcycle safety across the city.
City officials announced a plan on Friday to ensure that happens.
This includes new training programs and in-person briefings at monthly precinct community council meetings around the five boroughs.
Last year, 55 motorcyclist fatalies were reported. This year alone, 33% more motorcyclists have reported injuries.
"The risks associated with motorcycle collisions are real and often devastating. Behind these numbers are individuals, friends, family members and loved ones whose lives are forever changed by the consequences of unsafe riding," said NYPD Chief of Transportation Chief Phillip P. Rivera.
