Bronx tenants fight back against Brooklyn landlord over living conditions

THE BRONX - A group of Bronx tenants are fighting back against a Brooklyn landlord over what they call "deplorable conditions" in their building.

Residents at 1058 Southern Blvd. say their building has no heat or hot water and that mold covers their walls. They claim things have gotten worse following Hurricane Sandy.

Residents are fighting back against landlord Miriam Shasho by forming an association to try and run the building on their own. Shasho is on the city advocate's list of worst landlords in the city.

The building has been issued more than 300 violations. The city has given Shasho four months to make the repairs or the city will make the repairs itself and bill Shasho.
