A teenager was critically injured during an assault while coming out of a deli in the Belmont section of the Bronx, police say.

A teenager was critically injured during an assault while coming out of a deli in the Belmont section of the Bronx, police say.
Investigators say the incident happened on Southern Boulevard Wednesday shortly before 3 p.m.
According to police, the 19-year-old victim was coming out of the Bronx Zoo Deli when two men went up to him and hit him several times on his body with a wooden object.
The suspect fled with his cellphone and jumped into a blue Honda Civic.
The victim was taken to New York Presbyterian hospital in critical condition.
