HIGHBRIDGE - Local children and adults were getting their hands dirty this Earth Day to make the borough a little greener.

About 80 preschool students from Highbridge Advisory Council's Head Start program headed outside to celebrate and learn about Earth Day. They planted plants at the Bronx Stadium Garden.

Meanwhile, at Van Cortlandt Park volunteers from Bank of America along with New York Department of Parks and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation planted over 1,000 trees.

Organizers from both events say they will continue to do this every year.
