M.S. 391 aide accused of punching student
The mother of a 12-year-old boy allegedly beaten by a school aide is suing the city's Department of Education.
Ronald Simmons, a student at M.S. 391, says aide Johnathan Whigham beat him and stuffed him and a friend inside a locker for not wearing the proper uniform. Simmons' mother Bonnie Hagins says her son didn't suffer injuries, but was traumatized by the alleged March 6 incident.
Hagins says she tried to file a police report, but was told to go to the school principal who would handle the investigation internally.
School officials say Whigham has been reassigned to an administration office pending the outcome of the case.
