1 dead, 2 injured in Manhattan elevator plunge

NEW YORK - (AP) - The Fire Department says a person has been killed in an elevator accident in midtown Manhattan.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. Wednesday at an office building on Madison Avenue, between 40th and 41st streets.

The FDNY says the elevator fell at least two floors. Fire officials say two other people also suffered minor injuries.

Further details were not immediately known.
