THE BRONX - One man is dead today after a two-story building partially collapsed, trapping him inside, according to police.

The building, located on Westchester and Stafford avenues, was under construction when it collapsed at around 12:15 p.m. Witnesses on the scene say that construction workers were removing beams in the days leading up to the accident.

Police say three workers were inside at the time of the collapse. A male in his 30s was transported to Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The other two workers were uninjured in the incident.

The official cause of the collapse has yet to be determined by the FDNY.
