THE BRONX - Officials say a man was injured when he crashed his van into a Claremont Village playground.

Officials say it happened just before 6 p.m. at the playground located on East 168th Street at Brook Avenue.

The driver was taken to Lincoln Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police say the driver told them his brakes failed, and he lost control of the vehicle.

He crashed through a gate at the park, but did not hit any bystanders.
