THE BRONX - Police say a Bronx father was killed Sunday when he protected his son from an out-of-control driver on East Gun Hill Road.

Authorities say the driver hit several cars along East Gun Hill Road between Dewitt Place and Laconia Avenue. Witnesses say a boy was riding his bike when his 36-year-old father pushed him out of the way. The father was hit by the car and died at the scene.

Police say 13 other people were hit by the same driver, some suffering severe injuries. Witnesses say the driver resisted arrest, but police were able to apprehend him.
