15-year-old shooting victim now in rehab

THE BRONX - (AP) - The Bronx girl who was hit in the head by astray bullet while walking home from school has been moved to arehabilitation center.

Doctors are optimistic 15-year-old Vada Vasquez canbe home for Christmas.

Vasquez was shot Nov. 16 by a gunman on a bike. She was rushed fromthe street to brain surgery at Lincoln Hospital.

A 16-year-old boy and four other reputed gang members have beenarrested on attempted murder charges.

Gemma Vasquez hopes her daughter can return to activities sheenjoys, like playing drums and guitar, and making sculptures.

She describes her daughter as a "loving kid," and adds: "She's mybaby."
