163rd Street and Rogers Place in Longwood unofficially christened 'Big Pun Place' for Bronx rapper

A sign has recently been put up at 163rd Street and Rogers Place, calling the intersection “Big Pun Place.” (2/11/14)

LONGWOOD - For years, fans have been trying to get a street named for the late rapper Big Pun. 

Since 2011, fans and family members have been petitioning to have the intersection at 163rd Street and Rogers Place officially named for the Bronx native, who was born Christopher Rios.

A sign has recently been put up, calling the intersection “Big Pun Place.”   However, for the intersection to be officially renamed, it has to go through the local community board and then the City Council.

This past Friday was the 14th anniversary of the rapper's death.
