THE BRONX - The NYPD has disciplined 17 employees over offensive comments made on Facebook.

The NYPD members landed in hot water after making comments about revelers at last year's West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn. The employees referred to attendees as "savages" and "animals."

The annual celebration is one of the city's largest outdoor events, but it has been marred by violence in recent years.
