THE BRONX - A 17-year-old was fatally stabbed early Monday morning during a fight near Claremont Park.

Police say Esmeldyn Pene was stabbed in the chest around 3 a.m. and taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

Neighbors walking by the park on Monday told News 12 that this area is known to get violent.

The incident took place near the intersection of Clay Avenue and Belmont Street, not far from the location of a McDonald's restaurant where three people were injured in a shooting six weeks ago.
