THE BRONX - Police are on the hunt for the man who they say violently assaulted and robbed a teenage girl in Belmont.

According to investigators, the suspect was caught on surveillance video following the 17-year-old victim into her East 187th Street apartment building in the middle of the afternoon on Jan. 24. They say he dragged the girl down a flight of stairs, repeatedly punched her in the face and stole her iPhone.

The victim's mother, Angelica Sanjuan, says her daughter was able to fight off her attacker using her keys. She says the teenager is doing better physically, but is still disconcerted that the man hasn't been caught.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic in his early 20s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 160 pounds. He also had his hair in corn row braids.
