BROOKLYN - The 18th annual Mulchfest kicked off today across 22 areas throughout the borough.
The event takes old Christmas trees and turns them into mulch. The mulch is then used for city parks, ball fields and community gardens.
Residents can even pick up free bags of mulch for their own trees at home.
