THE BRONX - Nineteen suspected gang members face federal charges after a massive takedown in the Bronx.

The suspects were walked out of the NYPD's 50th Precinct Thursday morning in handcuffs -- some proclaiming their innocence, some singing and others with their heads down.

According to the indictment, members of the so-called Slut gang are accused of attempted murder, extortion, racketeering, robbery and drug trafficking. Investigators say the gang conducted some of its operation out of the Boston Secor Houses. Members are also accused of selling drugs such as cocaine base, marijuana, heroin and Ecstasy.

The NYPD, Drug Enforcement Agency and a unit from Homeland Security teamed up for the investigation, which lasted more than a year.

The suspects were expected to be taken to Manhattan for arraignment.

Authorities say the Slut gang committed acts of violence against rival gangs 2 Fly Y-Gs and Big Money Bosses. Both were taken down last April in a historic bust that resulted in more than 100 people arrested.
