THE BRONX - The emergency room at Montefiore Medical Center was evacuated earlier today following a two-alarm fire.

After containing the blaze, firefighters had to vent the hospital due to a heavy smoke condition. Ten people were transferred to another hospital.

The fire forced the MTA to route six Bronx bus lines out of the area.
