2-alarm fire burns apartment building at 753 Pelham Parkway South

More than 100 people live in the six-story apartment building. (1/5/14)

THE BRONX - Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire in a building on Pelham Parkway yesterday.

EMS says a call came in at around 1:30 p.m. for a two-alarm fire at 753 Pelham Parkway South. More than 100 people live in the six-story apartment building.

Firefighters found most of the fire contained to the first floor.

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Some tenants made heroic efforts to warn their neighbors about the fire and get them out.
