THE BRONX - A Kingsbridge 99-cent store was severely damaged by a two-alarm fire that broke out in the middle of the night.

According to fire officials, the flames started in the front of the building, located on Broadway and West 228th Street, and quickly spread throughout the store. About 75 firefighters rushed to the scene at around 3 a.m. and contained the fire in about 45 minutes.

Surrounding stores weren't damaged by the blaze, but firefighters did break through some glass and parts of the walls to check for hot spots.
