Westchester Avenue store erupts in flames

THE BRONX - At least four people were hurt when a store on Westchester Avenue went up in flames Friday morning. 

The two-alarm fire broke out at around 6:30 a.m. inside Ponce Grocery and Meat Mart. Merchandise was scattered on the sidewalk as firefighters smashed windows to get inside. 

Several floors of apartments above the shop were filled with smoke, forcing tenants to evacuate. 

The cause is under investigation.
