2 Bronx schools to offer Plan B pill to students

THE BRONX - Officials have announced that 13 New York public schools, including two in The Bronx, are now offering the Plan B pill to students.

The Bronx currently has the highest teen pregnancy rate of the five boroughs. The Office of School Health has launched this pilot program in several high schools, where nurses will offer counseling, pregnancy testing and the Plan B pill.

Parents were informed of the program via letter and can choose to opt their children out. According to the Department of Health, 1 to 2 percent of parents choose this option.
