THE BRONX - Two brothers died when their car slammed into a tree on the Bronx River Parkway after midnight Friday, police say.

The impact killed both the driver, Dayan Hunter, a 47-year-old Bronx MTA worker, and his brother Dave, a 44-year-old from Yonkers, according to authorities.

It happened in the northbound lane near the East 233rd Street exit in Wakefield around 12:30 a.m.

Police say the brothers were coming home from a birthday party in the Bronx when their white Mercedes struck a guardrail and careened into a tree.

The older brother's neighbors say he was a hardworking man with a wife and teenage daughter.

Police say the car may have been going as fast as 100 mph.
