Two Bronx businesses were cited for poor working conditions.

THE BRONX - Two Bronx businesses are facing hefty fines for allegedly putting employees in dangerous working conditions.

The Zaro Bakery Shop on Bruckner Boulevard is facing $118,000 in fines after part of its ceiling fell on workers' heads. Inspectors from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) say they also found locked exit doors and improperly grounded machines that could give workers electrical shocks.

The Color Carton Corporation on Canal Place could be forced to pay up to $62,000 for 24 violations of workplace safety and health standards.

The businesses would not comment to News 12, but OSHA says both are contesting the penalties.
