2 cops, suspect hurt in BX arrest-warrant shooting

TREMONT - Two detectives and a suspect are recovering from injuries during a shootout in Tremont Wednesday.

According to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, several detectives tried to serve an arrest warrant for Germain Taylor, 20, around 5:30 a.m. on Webster Avenue.

Kelly says Taylor fled out a back window, breaking his pelvis in a fall. Taylor then allegedly fired six shots at officers in the alley, grazing Daniel Rivera on the forehead and William Gonzalez on the leg.

Authorities say Taylor was not injured by gunfire and was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in serious condition. Gonzalez and Rivera were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital with minor injuries.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Kelly visited Rivera and Gonzalez in the hospital, where they said the situation could have turned out much worse.

Police took seven people, who were also in the apartment, in for questioning. Taylor is wanted in connection to a Holland Avenue shooting in July.
