THE BRONX - Two female deer were found trapped within a chain-link fence behind a Kingsbridge Heights parking lot today before the NYPD used a tranquilizer gun to subdue them.

"We have instances of coyotes coming by the area before, in Van Cortlandt Park, which is not too far, so it's not too uncommon," says Theodore Fountoukis, who lives nearby in Riverdale. "But I have no idea how they got over the fence."

An NYPD officer say the deer were originally spotted in a restaurant nearby and then made their way over to the parking lot, where Target employees trapped them.

The deer were later released in a park.
