THE BRONX - Two NYPD officers are being credited for saving the life of a baby girl.

Police say Officers Felix Baez and Giovanni Laguna were patrolling near 138th Street and Willis Avenue Friday night when they saw a woman running with a baby in her arms, screaming for help.

The 1-year-old was unresponsive and turning blue, according to officers.

Laguna immediately began CPR while Baez radioed in for an ambulance. After about one minute of CPR Laguna says the baby’s eyes opened and he noticed a faint pulse. That’s when the officers decided to drive the baby and her mother to the hospital.

The baby is now in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital and undergoing testing.
