CASTLE HILL - Two residents are in the hospital after an early morning fire in the Castle Hill section of The Bronx.

Authorities say the fire started on the second floor of a two-family home on Lafayette Avenue.

Firefighters rescued two people who were taken to Jacobi Hospital in serious condition, suffering from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
