2-year-old boy recovers after falling down elevator shaft in the Bronx

THE BRONX - A 2-year-old boy is recovering after falling down an elevator shaft at the Villa Barone Manor catering hall in Throgs Neck. 

Police say the boy was participating in a wedding rehearsal when the incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. Thursday. That rehearsal involved an elevated platform that rose from the ground as part of the grand entrance.

EMS estimates the boy fell about 10 feet. He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to be OK. Police say the child's injuries were minor, if any at all.

Family members identified him as Isaih Edwards. His father says he's full of life and energy.
