20-foot sinkhole forms on Webster Avenue

THE BRONX - A 20-foot sinkhole that formed in the Bronx today made driving impossible around the Webster Avenue area.

Fire officials say the sinkhole formed because of a sewer system malfunction. The NYPD, FDNY, Con Edison and a construction crew were all called in to assess the sinkhole.

A building on Webster Avenue was evacuated because of the sinkhole, but fire officials say it was only a precaution.
