20-year-old Marquis Brewer fatally shot in Highbridge

Cops say he was found with several gunshot wounds to the torso. (2/3/14)

THE BRONX - Police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a 20-year-old in Highbridge.

Investigators say Marquis Brewer, of Summit Avenue in the Bronx, was found overnight in front of the Highbridge Gardens housing complex at 1125 University Ave., which is also known as Martin Luther King Boulevard.

He was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital with several gunshot wounds to the torso and declared dead.

No arrests have been made.

Brewer had been arrested in October and charged with narcotics and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a New York City criminal court website. He was due back in court next week on the drug charges.

The victim was not a tenant of the Highbridge Houses, but residents say they would see him outside the complex.
