2017 ushers in new laws for New York state

THE BRONX - Some new laws came into effect in New York Sunday with the beginning of the New Year.

Among the new laws, single-stall restrooms in bars and restaurants must all be gender neutral, which aims to protect against discrimination toward the LGBTQ community.

Other laws include a requirement for defibrillators at baseball fields, notifications on elections sent by email to voters, a new voter information portal to track absentee ballots and requirements on giving notice on former poll sites.
