23 charged in University Heights drug trafficking bust

THE BRONX - Nearly two dozen people are facing charges after a major drug trafficking bust in University Heights.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, 23 suspects were arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, as well as several other illegal drugs.

Authorities say the men allegedly controlled the Bronx neighborhood from West Burnside Avenue to West Tremont Avenue, and from Sedgwick Avenue to Jerome Avenue.

One of the suspects, identified as Jonathan Cruz, remains at large.
