THE BRONX - Officials are investigating a stabbing on Third Avenue and East 149th Street.

Officials say a 25-year-old man was slashed in the chest and back and taken to Lincoln Hospital.

The man was reportedly riding the 2 train southbound when he got into a dispute with a fellow rider. Police say the suspect fled on foot.

Police initially shut down the 2 and 5 lines for their investigation, but have since reopened them with increased officer presence.

Witnesses say they've seen the victim selling candy out of cardboard boxes on those train lines.
