3 Bronx hospitals could face layoffs

THE BRONX - The New York City public hospital system is planning to lay off 500 workers, including some doctors.

The Health and Hospitals Corp budget plan calls for 2,400 job cuts in the next four years. Three of those hospitals are in the Bronx.

The HHC says it needs to close a $1.2 billion gap in next year's budget.
