3 Gerard Ave. businesses destroyed by fire

THE BRONX - Fire officials are still investigating a fire that ripped through the first floor of a commercial building this afternoon and destroyed three businesses.

Doug Scherma, Battalion 17's chief, confirmed that the fire started in the Laundromat, then quickly spread to the neighboring bodega and hair salon. The blaze took more then 100 firefighters to put it out.

Officials say no injuries have been reported.
