THE BRONX - A four-car pileup in the Bronx sent three people to the hospital.

According to witnesses, a white Volkswagen lost control Monday on East Tremont Avenue, near Phillip Avenue, and set off a domino effect of cars slamming into each other.

Officials say one woman was about to get inside her vehicle at the time of the crash, and was pinned between two black cars. She and two others were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center.

It took tow trucks hours to remove the wreckage.
