THE BRONX - Four new bills up for discussion could help prevent New York City taxi and limousine drivers from scamming passengers.

News 12 The Bronx reported in March that thousands of drivers were using out-of-city rates for passengers traveling within the city. Another report found drivers used cash-only lanes to pay tolls instead of E-ZPass lanes. The Taxi and Limousine Commission later admitted to these overcharges. Included in the bills proposed by City Council Transportation Committee chair James Vacca is the required posting of customer complaints online, and mandatory use of E-ZPass lanes by drivers.

The bills may be voted on by June, making the complaint system available by fall, if passed.
