THE BRONX - Four people were sent to the hospital after a car overturned on the Major Deegan Expressway.

Police say two of the four are being treated for minor injuries, and the other two are in serious but stable condition.

The overturned car was left crushed, with shoes and bloody clothes littering the surrounding area.

Officials say the Nissan was traveling southbound on the expressway when the incident occurred. They are not sure of exactly how the accident happened, but they say that preliminary findings indicate that speed may have been a factor.

Exit 2 has been reopened after authorities shut it down to investigate.

All four involved in the accident are expected to be OK.
