THE BRONX - Five young men are under arrest after allegedly attacking a Bronx man because of his sexual orientation.

According to Kevin Kiaddi, he was in Brooklyn's Prospect Park when he offered one of the suspects a soda because he looked extremely intoxicated. Kiaddi says the group became immediately aggressive, and beat him while shouting gay slurs and profanities.

The 25-year-old makeup artist says he's sharing his story in order to take a stand against bigotry and hatred.

All five suspects, who are between 16 and 21 years old, are facing several charges, including gang assault and harassment as hate crimes. They’re due in court on Monday, and Kiaddi says he plans to be there.

The crime comes just days after Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly spoke publicly about a rash of anti-gay attacks in the city.
