5 Home Street shooting suspects arraigned

THE BRONX - The five men arrested in the shooting of a 15-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy on Home Street appeared before a judge at the Bronx Criminal Court Thursday.

Carvette Gentile, 16, and four other men were arraigned on charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to commit serious injury and criminal use of a firearm. If convicted, they will face up to 20 years behind bars.

During the arraignment, Gentile admitted to shooting Vada Vasquez in the head Monday. Investigators say, however, Gentile was targeting Tyrone Creighton in retaliation for a Rikers Island fight involving his brother.

The suspects are due back in court next week.
