5 new schools set to open in the Bronx

THE BRONX - Five new schools will be opening up this year in the Bronx, city education officials say.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the new buildings will add more than 19,000 additional seats for Bronx students, helping to ease overcrowding.

The Department of Education says the new schools are Jonas Bronck Academy, James Monroe High School Campus Annex, Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education, Reverend James A. Polite Avenue School Complex and the Willie Ella Paschal Bowman Campus.
