THE BRONX - A Norwood community is bouncing back after a devastating fire.

Six stores are currently being constructed on Bainbridge Avenue and East 204th Street. The stores will occupy the same corner where a fire completely burned 14 stores down to ashes almost four years ago.

Merchants and residents are happy that the new stores will bring in jobs and boost business in the area.

Officials say the new stores should open by the fall.

Councilman Oliver Koppell says he hopes to convert the commercial strip into a business improvement district in the near future.
