A 66-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed by a man in the Bronx, according to police.

THE BRONX - A 66-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed by a man in the Bronx, according to police.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in a fifth-floor apartment of the Edenwald Houses at E. 229th Street and Schieffelin Avenue. 

Police say the man entered the woman's apartment, struck her over the head with a blunt object, and then stole some items.

The woman was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center with a head injury and is expected to be OK, police say.

Investigators did not say what the man stole.
