71-year-old woman assaulted, robbed inside Bronx apartment building

A 71-year-old woman was punched in the stomach and robbed inside her own apartment building in the Bronx, police say.

MORRIS PARK - A 71-year-old woman was punched in the stomach and robbed inside her own apartment building in the Bronx, police say. 

The incident happened Saturday inside a building on Pelham Parkway South and Cruger Avenue in Morris Park just before 8 a.m.

The woman says she met the victim outside of a bank near her home earlier that morning and that the suspect followed her into her building. 

Once inside, police say the suspect punched the victim in the stomach and grabbed her purse which contained her wallet. 

The victim tells News 12 she tried to fight back but the woman got away. 

The suspect is described as being 5'9'' tall, 190 pounds and has long braided hair. She was last seen wearing a brown jacket and brown pants.
