THE BRONX - Police say that the elderly man behind the wheel of a hit-and-run in Soundview was driving under the influence of drugs.
According to investigators, 72-year-old James Coleman was also driving without a license when he struck a 60-year-old man on Soundview and Story avenues at around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses say that Coleman first hit a couple of cars while pulling out of a Western Beef parking lot, before striking the pedestrian in the crosswalk. He fled the scene at first, but a good Samaritan chased him down and forced him to stop.
