THE BRONX - A 9-year-old boy who took a five-story fall from the roof of his Morris Heights apartment building is now in a medically induced coma.

According to police, Freddy Martin was thrown off the Nelson Avenue building on Friday by his 17-year-old neighbor, Casmine Aska. The teen has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, but claims it was an accident.

Martin was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with broken bones and severe bleeding.

Many neighbors say the fall could have been prevented if the roof door had been locked, but the fire department says that roof access must always be an option because it's an emergency exit.
