A-Rod, Yankees surprise Bronx family

BATHGATE - Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano and other members of the Yankees surprised a Bronx family this morning as part of H.O.P.E. week.

The Arias have been fighting homelessness for over a decade. Despite the challenge, Melida will be heading to Baruch College this fall. Her older sister, Johanna, was enrolled at Syracuse but had to withdraw once her mother became physically unable to perform her job as a cab driver. The Yankees took the sisters on a shopping spree in Manhattan Friday morning and let her throw out the first pitch at Friday's game.
