Alleged Latin King Goonies leader Idelfonso Mendez gets 14 years in 2010 anti-gay assault

THE BRONX - The alleged leader of the Latin King Goonies will spend 14 years behind bars after pleading guilty to gang assault. 

Prosecutors say Idelfonso Mendez, along with several others, sexually assaulted and beat three men in an anti-gay hate crime in the basement of 1910 Osbourne Place back in Oct. 2010. 

Six suspects have already been convicted on varying charges in connection with the case, but Mendez will serve the longest sentence. 

The case against one suspect, Luis Garcia, is still pending.
