THE BRONX - Allerton Avenue is putting up holiday lights for the first time in about 10 years.

Organizers say this year's display was put together in a matter of days. They say they had very little time to raise the $7,500 to get the 15 blockwide light displays up and bright.

A number of local businesses donated to the cause. A $5,000 donation was made by Center Life Health Systems.

Organizers say the hiatus was due to a lack of funds and organization.

A tree lighting will be held on Dec. 15 and the display will be up until Jan. 7.
