BROOKLYN - The latest amNewYork/News 12 poll shows Democrat Bill de Blasio still in the lead over Republican Joe Lhota in the race for mayor, with 63 percent to Lhota's 23 percent.
"I think what we're clearly seeing is that this is a change election, and that New Yorkers want to move forward," said pollster Mike Berland.
Bill de Blasio has said he would stop the NYPD's controversial stop-and-frisk policy, but 58 percent of those surveyed say they want to keep the policy with some reforms.

Berland says that Lhota needs to demonstrate his strengths to cut into de Blasio's lead.
"He's got clear strengths of getting organizations to pull together, of doing more with less," said Berland.
